Took out 4 passengers before the wind really picked up. Anne-Maree did a fantastic job riding….she’s now got her Cycling Without Age Pilot’s badge!

Cycling Without Age Lower Hutt is an international programme where volunteer riders (pilots) offer free rides to the elderly who are unable to access their local community and can no longer ride themselves.

We need volunteers to pilot our bike. Come along to our open day on Saturday 17th June at 128 Nelson Street, Petone between 10am-12pm.

COME and MEET US and have a look at our electric Triobike. Take it for a spin and see if you’d like to volunteer an hour or two a week (or longer if you want!) for this rewarding work.

VOLUNTEERS WANTED – We have some fantastic volunteer opportunities with Riding With Olivia – Cycling Without Age Lower Hutt.

We are looking for a bookkeeper, or someone with financial experience who can do our year end reporting. Minimal work is required but ongoing as needed would be excellent.

Other opportunities include tri-bike pilots and a funding coordinator.

We have some fantastic opportunities with Riding With Olivia – Cycling Without Age Lower Hutt.

Riding With Olivia is a not-for-profit charity that will provide a community service by connecting senior people and those less abled with free rides on our trishaw e-bike, piloted by volunteer cyclists.

Cycling Without Age Lower Hutt will be looking for pilots…..volunteers that ride the trio taxi bike from our base in Petone. So if you can ride a bike and feel you have a couple of hours spare a week, every couple of weeks or even monthly then message me. There will be at least 4 training sessions plus current 1st aid certification before pilots are ready.

We are still finalizing the pilot paper work and plan to have an open day soon to show case the bike.

Riding with Olivia is the Lower Hutt chapter of the global Cycling Without Age and was established for the principal reason of providing a living and dynamic memorial to Olivia Marchant. Olivia was a much loved nurse in Lower Hutt for 24 years working at several medical facilities including Te Omanga Hospice.

She was diagnosed with ovarian cancer during the first week of COVID lockdown in March 2020 and bravely endured nearly two years of chemotherapy and surgery before her death in January 2022.

Olivia loved cycling and was extremely generous. On many occasions she would pick up old friends from various aged care facilities and drive them to a nearby beach or park for a little walk and ice cream or coffee.

Cycling Without Age was seen as the perfect vehicle to keep the memory of Olivia alive in Lower Hutt, hence Riding With Olivia was born. Visit our website to read more about Olivia.
